Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What aquarium size is this filter intended for?
A: The listing specifies 10-45 gallon tanks. Suitability also depends on stocking, livestock requirements and tank layout; check mounting clearance and your aquarium's filtration needs before ordering.
Q: What does the surface skimmer do?
A: It draws water from the surface to help collect floating film and debris. The filter also returns water through waterfall-style outlets. Filtration does not replace regular water testing or water changes.
Q: Is this a useful gift for an aquarium hobbyist?
A: It can be a practical birthday or holiday gift for a fishkeeper with a compatible tank. Confirm their aquarium size, mounting space and equipment requirements first.
Q: How should I install and adjust this hang on back filter?
A: Follow the supplied instructions for mounting, intake positioning and any priming steps before powering it on. Adjust the flow to suit the tank and its inhabitants. Disconnect power before cleaning or handling the unit.
Q: Are replacement cartridges or extra filter media included?
A: This listing identifies the 167GPH-8W-Dual Filter model but does not specify a separate replacement cartridge pack or spare media quantity. Confirm media dimensions and compatibility before purchasing replacements. The 8W rating indicates powered equipment, not a non-electric filter.
Q: Is this a STEM kit, or does it sterilize the aquarium?
A: It is aquarium filtration equipment, not a STEM kit. A verified sterilization method or UV specification is not provided, so it should not be relied on to sterilize water or treat fish disease.
